Private Pilot - Rotorcraft-Helicopter

 

The Private Pilot license is for those who

intend to fly for enjoyment and not for hire. 

This is the first license you would acquire 

to become a helicopter pilot and you are

not required to have a fixed-wing license

to obtain.

FAA Minimum Requirements*

  • 40 HOURS of which:
  • Dual :  30 hours
  • Solo :  10 hours

* Average flight time 50-60 hours

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for Private Pilot certificate under FAA Part 61, 

a person must:

     A.   be at least 17 years of age.

     B.   be able to read, speak, write and understand the 

English language, or have such operating/limitations placed 

on his/her pilot certificate as necessary for safety.

     C.   hold at least a 3rd. class medical certificate.

     D.   pass a FAA written examination.

     E.   pass an oral and flight test.
